Currey & Company started as “Garden Source Furniture”, an outdoor furnishings manufacturer founded by Robert B. Currey in 1988. The main focus of the company was the production of classic garden furniture from the Smithsonian Institution and the Winterthur Museum. The company introduced lighting fixtures to their collection in the early 90’s, and when the demand for lighting systems grew higher, the company changed its name to Currey & Company and shifted their focus to lighting fixtures.
Currey & Company’s collection now includes fixtures made by hand and of materials such as hand-forged iron, hand-carved wood, porcelain and brass giving each product a “sense of imperfect” that maintains a look of honest and unique. Currey & Company offers a very classical and naturalistic selection of table and floor lamps, chandeliers, wall sconces, pendants and ceiling fixtures as well as lighting solutions for bathrooms, kitchens and outdoor areas. What was once a collection of outdoor furnishings is now a collection of overall home furnishing with designs just as unique and fascinating as those found in the lighting collections. One of Currey & Company's more popular collections contains fixtures and furnishings decorated with actual oyster shells.
